Let’s explore Zadar a bit…
St. Donat’s Church
When you start wandering through the streets of the Zadar Old Town, you’ll stumble upon a few churches that will leave you breathless. But the one that is a true symbol of Zadar is St. Donat’s Church, for sure. It’s an amazing Pre-Romanesque circular building, built on the Roman forum. It is no longer a place of worship but a cool venue for many summer concerts. The whole surrounding of this church is just so amazing and picturesque – you’ll love it.
The Best Ice-cream in Croatia
Italians that once occupied this city left a huge impact on architecture and culture, and one thing that you definitely love – gelato. There are many places in Zadar where you can have ice-cream that is made to an original Italian gelato recipe. It’s so delicious, we just couldn’t get enough of it.
Zadar’s promenade is simply stunning – it’s a walk you must take. It gives you the most amazing views of the sea, with distant islands showing in the background. It’s a perfect sunset walk that leads you to our next favourite spots in Zadar – the Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun.
The Sounds of the Sea
One of the most popular things in Zadar is the Sea Organ (or Morske Orgulje in Croatian), created by local installation artist Nikola Bašić. Sea Organ is played by waves – they push the air through 35 underwater pipes and play music. It’s a perfect relaxation spot – just sit on those marble steps and enjoy the sounds and the sun.

World’s Best Sunset
Right next to the Sea Organ is another Bašić’s installation – the Greeting to the Sun (Pozdrav Suncu in Croatian). This installation runs on solar power, producing a wonderful show of light after dark, connected to the rhythm of waves playing the Sea Organ. This spot gives you the best sunset experience in the world – the colours of the sunset, the smell of the sea the sound of the Sea Organ, just perfect.
