When thinking of a museum, most people imagine a building where pictures and sculptures are on display. The exhibitions convey knowledge, inspiration, and new perspectives on the well-known. In addition, the rooms themselves create a special atmosphere that allows us to immerse ourselves in the world of art and culture. For many, experiencing this space is a crucial part of the museum experience. But not only since COVID-19 have there been exciting approaches to break open this traditional perception and expand it with digital offers.
When the pandemic hit the world, we were thinking about what we could do. We were always working with cultural institutions and artists, so it was soon decided that we wanted to organize a digital exhibition featuring up-and-coming artists from Vienna.
Producing our audio and media guides is a lot of work! Find out about the process behind the scenes and learn how the outdoor tour for St. Stephen’s Cathedral came into being.
Back in May 2020, we asked artists how they were dealing with the new situation and received a number of answers, some quite different from others. Times have been tough, but who other than cartoonists are best in not losing focus on what’s the most important – humor and laughter!
During the pandemic that we are still facing, we were all a little envy of animals for their freedom to walk around freely, while we were stuck at home, unable to travel and explore cities. As Cultural Places is a platform for a cultural traveler, who wasn’t really able to travel lately, we were looking for different ways to create great culture-related content. So, we partnered with Roberto Di Costanzo — an amazing Rome-based artist, who will help you discover Rome through his illustrations.
It’s not easy, you’re stuck at home, and as days go by you have fewer interesting things to do. You can’t go anywhere, and maybe you already read all of those books which have been waiting for you for a long time. Well, we are all in this together, we’re all stuck at home, trying to find something cool to fill our days with… As we are curious by nature, and we’re in love with all-things-cultural at the same time, we came up with a new idea on how you can fill your days with more art and culture. We bring digital tours of your favorite cultural places and digital exhibitions to your home, through our new #WeAreAllCulture project.
