In many places in Liebenau, the hidden past comes to light under a thin layer of earth: relics, foundations, and found pieces bear witness to the former Liebenau camp. For decades, the very existence of the camp had largely disappeared from the public consciousness. It was forgotten that 190 barracks stood at this location and that war crimes had been committed here during the Nazi era. Only in the last few years has there been increased interest in Camp Graz-Liebenau.
How forgetting can be prevented in the future is a discussion each generation must have anew. This memorial plaque with a digital tour is intended to make a significant contribution to this end.
